Great to meet everyone last week. I love the mix of interests, skill sets, and experiences. Persistent people. Personable people. People who aspire to be better at follow-up questions while listening. People already good at follow-up questions while listening. Rutgers film school. Google. College EIC. This is going to be a fun semester.

Our first class is this Friday at noon in room 108. You’ll get a sense of what’s to come; meet Sarah, our excellent tutor; and jump right into some work. You’ll also receive your first assignment.

Before then, please do the following:

1. Make sure you bring notebook, pen, and recorder.
2. Read the syllabus.
3. Read this story, which we’ll discuss in class. It will give you a sense of the kind of “sports” stories we’ll be talking about.
4. Peruse the site readings. You’ll see other examples, from long to short, from essays to historical.
